Jurisdiction Research
Property Tax Research Analyst
Keep the jurisdiction library correct. You will read statutes, assessor manuals and board rules for US counties, verify every deadline, form and assessment ratio against official sources, and turn what you find into data the product and the website rely on.
What you will do
- Research and verify statutes, filing deadlines, official form names, assessment ratios, uniformity authorities and hearing procedures for each US county in the library.
- Re-verify each jurisdiction every assessment cycle and record what changed, when it changed and the official source.
- Track new legislation, board rule changes and assessor announcements that affect commercial property appeals.
- Write and check county appeal guides, and confirm that every citation resolves to the statute or the official county page.
- Test the form library against the official forms and report mismatches to engineering.
- Answer questions from product and customer success about how a particular county handles evidence, exchanges and hearings.
What you bring
- 2 or more years in legal research, tax research, property appraisal, assessment administration or public records analysis.
- A degree in law, commerce, economics, real estate or a related field.
- The ability to read a statute closely and tell what it requires from what commentary says it requires.
- Precise written English and a habit of citing sources for every claim.
Nice to have
- A law degree or paralegal training.
- Familiarity with IAAO standards, IPT materials or appraisal practice.
- Prior work in US property tax, assessment or tax appeals.
- Comfort with spreadsheets and basic SQL.
